North America Commercial Contract Operations & Compliance Manager

Overview:

Dell’s North America Commercial sales organization is the backbone of the Dell business, and we need a skilled, pragmatic, energetic professional to join our in-house legal team supporting that business. 

The Contract Operations & Compliance Manager will join a team within Dell that provides legal and contract support for Dell’s North America Commercial business.  This individual will perform a broad range of program management duties to ensure that Dell’s processes, procedures and tools fully enable compliance with contract commitments.  S/he will be responsible for working with a cross-functional team of professionals to evaluate, document, implement and make recommendations on policies and processes that provide operational contract compliance within the business.  

A successful candidate will have or quickly develop a knowledge and understanding of legal procedures and contract terminology, business operations, and legal and compliance requirements.  We are looking for someone with experience operationalizing compliance requirements, solid judgment, good communication skills, a customer-service mindset, creative problem-solving skills, and a commitment to career growth and personal development.  An interest in technology, a keen eye for process improvement, and good sense of humor are also valuable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interacts with large public and commercial customers to provide updates on Dell’s compliance status, manages requests for information, and follows up on long and short-term term projects
  • Serves as a subject matter expert and escalation point for the business regarding government sector contract compliance issues
  • Collaborates with Legal, Contracts, Ethics & Compliance, Finance, Audit and IT and other groups to ensure processes, procedures and tools meet Company policies, contract requirements and protect the Company’s interests
  • Advises on contract and compliance requirements and translates those requirements into operational guidelines for business processes and tools
  • Recognizes risks and solves problems in a team environment
  • Persuades others and provides creative solutions to resolve issues
  • Conveys complex information to Business Leaders, clients and colleagues in a concise and professional manner

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years relevant experience; or equivalent experience
  • Relevant experience in an in-house corporate legal or contracts management department or procurement, sales, or alliance role
  • Expertise reviewing and interpreting contract terms and requirements
  • Significant knowledge of the information technology industry and of related commercial contracts terms
  • Demonstrated effectiveness supporting other teams and understanding of complex corporate environments
  • Ability to multi-task, work efficiently in a high-energy environment, and collaborate effectively with management as both an advisor and business leader
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to resolve issues without needing extensive support; be comfortable conforming deals to various liability norms we set and evaluate for the overall business
  • Solution-oriented and willingness to speak up if an issue needs attention
  • A curious mind and desire to keep learning

Preferred:

  • Prior experience supporting sales to, or procurement by, government entities is desired but not required
