Our products drive human progress. Our Purchasing team drives the progress of our supply systems. We lead strategic and operational commodity teams, while developing supplier strategy, long-range plans and the optimization of the global supply chain. Our remit includes setting delivery performance goals and implementing procurement initiatives and process improvements. We also oversee the planning and obtaining of materials, components, equipment and services for all parts of the business, including checking requisitions, developing new supply sources and ensuring best quality at best value from third parties.
Key Responsibilities

  • Directs the efforts of others in the achievement of the strategic and operational objectives of the group.
  • Manages the hiring, staffing and maintaining of a diverse and effective workforce.
  • Responsible for career development/planning, performance and pay discussions of team members.
  • Drives cross-functional strategic/operational commodity teams to drive Dell towards a competitive advantage in the market place in specific areas such as Time-to-Market, Availability/Capacity, Cost, Quality, Technology and Service Level.
  • Plans and implements activities related to the timely, cost-effective procurement, inventory control, planning and quality control of production materials and/or outsourced services.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and material control systems to reduce costs, streamline procedures, and implement solutions. Manages governance to ensure compliance with policies and processes.
  • Drives development and implementation of tools and processes to improve management practices for commodities and/or spend categories, and shares that learning with other groups.
  • Accountable for improving supplier performance and negotiating contracts and global pricing.
  • Calibrates and shares best practices with counterparts across the globe.
  • Implements procurement policies and procedures.
  • Accountable for supply/demand and global cost forecasting for a specific commodity area or spend categories.


Essential Requirements

  • Typically 10+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • Typically requires 2+ years managerial/leadership experience


Desirable Requirements

  • Ability to perform coding scripting (eg: Macro coding, VBA)
  • Some experience with  knowledge to perform general purpose Object Oriented Programming  (eg : Phyton) would be a great plus

Principal responsibilities :

  • Leading a team of 10 team members
  • Demonstrates knowledge of financial and business analysis as well as supplier economic techniques and makes specific assignments to Buyers to effectively achieve cost and availability goals while fostering strong supplier management relationships and working effectively with cross-functional teams

  • Supports a total cost reduction program within their plant and prepares monthly reports outlining major activities

  • Demonstrates a high level understanding with Oracle Purchasing and has working knowledge of e-Procurement tools

  • Ensures that all purchasing activities are carried out efficiently within budget Manages the processing of all purchase orders as well as interactions with key suppliers to maintain strong business relationships

  • Responsible for resolving disputes surrounding operational issues such as Responsible to develop and maintain mid level contact with key suppliers

  • Visit supplier sites to investigate supplier's ability to meet quality requirements, specifications and delivery dates

  • Conduct regular information exchanges with suppliers

  • Develops personnel through various techniques
